January - New Year = New Goals!!

Time to make a few changes in my world!!!

Hello!!!    Long time since I have written anything down because I did NOT get anything done!!!
I am still working on Jamestown & Fair and Square, both Bonnie Hunter pattern's, plus her latest mystery has been started although I am still on step 2 of this one.  Yes, I do plan on finishing it even though so many people seem to not like it.

Under my needle right now is a UFO - I am in a 6 month challenge to get a UFO done  month. You number 6 UFO's you want to commit to for the challenge time and the host will pull a number at the beginning of the month and you are committed to get it DONE by the end of the month!!!  This is going to be good for me because I can already see how this is going to help me with my other goals this year.
My #2 UFO is now ready for borders,  I will phone my quilter to see if she will do this for me in the  - well, if she can get it back to me ASAP,   And then I will bind it and I will have a finished product here instead of a project in a box like I do now.

And I have  A WHOLE LOT of projects in a box here.........

I have not leaned my camera yet.   I do not know why I am avoiding this - but I am.   I want to share pics, I love to see yours, and they do inspired me!! Sometimes a little to much but they are nice to look at.

I just got the book "The Little Spark - 30 ways to ignite your creativity" by Carrie Bloomston and yesterday she talks about how a class can get you excited and motivated and get those juices going and rev you up!  (my words, not hers!!!)  So, as I wrote that I have not learned my camera yet, I just got the nudge that maybe, just maybe, I should take a class on how to use this camera I got that is STILL IN THE BOX!!!  (yes, red face here......)

So, projects on the go:
- #2 UFO challenge    This HAS to be done ASAP
- Jamestown
- Fair & Square

I have baby quilts on my design board to.  Many ideas in my head, but I also want to do a baby quilt a month this year just to have them on hand.
Speaking of that, my quilter is doing a baby quilt for me as we speak.  My daughters friend had her son the end of December so her quilt is almost done.  I want to be ready for the next baby!!

I have more then the above on the go:  I still have to border the 'quick' summer one I started and the Victoria Finley one that uses tiny bits of fabric (well, mine does) that I did get the 12" blks done for then put it away (where?? I wonder.......)
And I am still wanting to just start 'something' - like really Brenda?????!!!!!  I want to have things for Valentines day hanging around, like wall hangings or something that is not so big as a quilt - even a throw quilt is big.....

Here is where I am now.   Hmmmmm.   Goal for myself - class/lesson to take: use my camera!!!!

Okay - Here is to a FANTASTIC New Year and to making your life the life you want to live!!!!
Hugs to you all and talk to you soon!!!!

July Project List

No pics yet.
Projects I am working on: 1- Jelly Roll quilt that I have on my design wall, waiting for the borders.

2-  Fair and Square - a Bonnie Hunter pattern from Shirts and Shirttails 2 book.  It uses up a lot of 1.5" squares, and if you go to the link it is the quilt on the top right!  I am still just making pieces for it right now - the string blocks are fun to do!! I only have about 48 left of those!!!!

3-   Jamestown - another Bonnie pattern from String Fling.  This is one I am making with a friend from the States!!! We thought we would do a project together, and choose this one.  I am still working on the (million!!!!) 368 strings for it,  I mean 168!!  But as of today's count, I only have 49 to go!!!   This one was only going to be done one step at a time, meaning, once the strings were done, go to the next step and so on and so on, but, me being me,  started to make half square triangles a couple weeks ago.   I need 840 for this step so I thought I should start it soon!!!!  This is also a project I have written down to have done by the end of August.  The top part at least anyway.  Then I will take it to be quilted.

4- my last project for this month is a Victoria Findlay Wolfe one.  15 Minutes of Play.  The quilt I am creating is the one on the cover of the book, but the pattern for it seems to be missing!  I have in my Quiltmaker magazine #150 (March/April '13)  which also has it as it's cover quilt.   This is using up a lot of my smaller scraps, which is good.  It is labor intensive, meaning it is a whole lot of sewing and trimming for all the pieces I have made so far - I am almost done.  I created the 12" blocks first, thinking I will get the big ones over with first and the rest will be easier (and faster....).  I got to a point of not wanting to do these for a bit!!!!!  So, I am back on track -sorta - and I want this one done ASAP too!!!!!

These 4 projects are my main goals.  As one gets done (to the top stage at least) I am going to throw another on the list.  I know I like to start things - this is what has happened to create all these projects on-the-go here, and it has to stop.  So, I am letting myself start new things, with the understanding, I do not stop till it is done.  And that is why the crumb project and the Fair and Square one are on this finishing list.   These are my newest 'starts',  the jelly roll is brand new, so I want it done first.  I am so close to being at the top stage, it's crazy!

talk soon.  I will post my new list for August soon.  I want to keep my list small, 4 a month.  One a week - and soon, my UFO list will get smaller and smaller, even with new starts!  I want to make some baby quilts, or smaller lap sized ones this year.  Gifts for the little people in my life or the ones on their way here!!! Here is to getting it done!!!!!

I certainly am not a great blogger, but, saying that - I have been busy.  I have 4 projects under the needle right now, many to be finished - meaning, they need to have their binding sew on, and then they can be called 'done'.  And, I have many ideas in my head......

And, I do have a camera, that I am not using quit yet, but it is on my list to learn how to take great pics and post them on here.........

So, do not hold your breath - but I will be back SOONER THEN A YEAR!!!!!!!  Promise!!!   And, if I - no, WHEN I get my {probably very simple} camera working and can get pivs on here, I will show you my crumb project, and the others that I am working on.

I am still here, really, and I do enjoy visiting others blogs.  I just have to take the time to make a post and let you know what I am up to and then come and read what you are doing.   Have a super July - I have goals for the month and being on here, visiting with you - is one of them!!!!

(((hugs))) Brenda!!   Glad you are reading this!!!

Long Time Gone........

Hello out there in Blog land!!!  I am here to say "Happy New Year!!!!" since I have not said it before, or should I say, yet....

I just thought it was time for me to stop and visit others I have not seen in - well, for as long as I have not been on  here..... I stopped blog hopping.  Probably because it just gets me into trouble.  Good trouble, yes, but trouble all the same.  And I want to not get myself buried under all these projects  have on the go - uh, it is over 60 with, more that I want to do, and kits!!!!!!  Did  mention the kits....... I have not counted them yet, I really do not want to know - but the thing is, I really want to get all these things done.

So, for me this year, my goal was to make it happen, get  it done and be productive.  But, guess who stopped sewing the end of February...... and  just went back into my very tightly packed, cramped, oh can you breathe in here, sewing room!!!! Oh, yes I did.  And I finished the project that I left hanging on my design wall for all those months, in two days!  It has a date with my quilter for next week!!!  I am going to be taking her two - and   today, right now, I am cutting up one of my BOM blks from - oh a long time ago now, and using that as my leader/ender project as I work on my guilds mystery project (that  I did not do because I also stopped going to Guild meetings.......)  These two projects are my  goal to have done by then end of  June - then July, will be the next in my pile of  'already-started'  projects I piled up with the full intent of getting them done.

Out of sight, out of mind.  These projects are definitely in view, and I want to empty the containers, so........

So again.   I will be posting more and pics will be coming - me and pics,  I just need to do it.  But for now, it's words - and a promise.  I will be back and visiting so, talk to you soon!!!

~ Brenda!!
