Stash Busting Week 36

Stash - 180 3/4 yrds

Old Stash Counted- 5 1/2 yds

F.A.Y.T.D. - 25 1/2 yrds

Fabric Used - (13 1/4 yrds) the reason I have this in brackets is because it's what I used last week, but I didn't do a proper report last week, so I have here, reported the way I usually do!!

New Stash Total - 173 yrds

I am having a great week!! I am back to my sewing room, sewing!!! Bonnie Huners mystery, the second step is almost half way done and the best thing I did this yesterday was, pull out my daughters quilt that I made for her 2 years ago. It only needed binding - and I put it away because I was not 100% sure what I was doing..... this spring I pulled it out of hiding and sewed the binding on. And put it away again...... Yesterday, after working on step 2 blks, with my daughers music playing to loud for me to handle much longer, I left my sewing room (we share a wall, and I remember being a kid!!! So, I just went somewhere else for a bit!!) I pulled out the quilt.... I sat and sewed 1 1/2 sides of binding on!!!

As I am working on it - it's a queen size quilt - I woundered why I took so long to do this. I did not beat myself up about it though. I was just woundering. And one of the answers is, she painted her room all back - walls and ceiling - with purple trim.

This quilt is done in browns. It's a log cabin with a heart in the middle - yes, I will get a picture on here once I have it bound. I just went looking for one that I know I already have, and I don't know where it is.

And so I just put it away till the time was right. Two years is to much!! Then, I had people tell me they would help me with putting the binding on. And everytime they would say it, I felt really tense about it. I did not want help!! This is my second 'real' quilt. The first one was for my 1st baby - a trip around the world and I had alot of fun. This one is for my second baby - and I want to do it all myself. Yeah, it's taken me alot longer than I wanted it too, but I am on my way to having it finished. And it feels good!!

So this is my report for today!!! Off to see what everyone else is up to at Judy's.

Stash Busting Week 35 (really???)

I do not have a 'real' report - I just know that I have finally finished, or at least got the blks together, still have borders to do - but my "Twilight" quilt top is done....... no pics because camera is full and I am not touching it!!

But I have busted 13 1/4 yrds for my blks!!! Yeah!!!! I have actuall moved some real numbers here!!!

I am almost caught up on my 20 min. sewing a day - sewed for about 6 hrs today, with about 3 hrs left for tomorrow and then I am in the clear for Sept!!!

And the best part, I enjoyed myself today in my sewing room. This has been a long time coming. I did not want to sew, and didn't. But I am so behind in my project goals for this year, and I keep seeing more of what I would love to do - my guild is starting up again here in a couple weeks and my Shop Hop starts on the 10th. Actually, my guild meet is that night too, so I will be busy that day!!

Next week, a real report, but I am so proud of my numbers this week. It has been a long time coming, for me to actually post a real number to show that I am using up my stash. I decided when I started this, I would not post a patterns fabric use, the blocks I am making, until I have the top done. With making all these blks, I couldn't say how much was used!!! But once they were all done and sewn together (yes, i will have a pic soon!!!) then I can say - this is how much fabric the pattern told me I had to have to make it!!

Alright. I feel really good tonight. I would not stop sewing today till I got this top done and *It's Done!!!* Borders are next for it, and I will have numbers to report when I get those on too!!!

Have a Great Week!! It is the start of Sept this week. And tomorrow, I will have something new on my design wall...... I am torn to what it should be!!! I am in the 'get it done' mood, so who's next???!! ?? lol!!!

Stash Busting week 32

I have nothing to report. I have not bought anything, I have hardly been in my sewing room - it's nice and sunny out there you know, why would I want to be inside on hot sunny days I ask you?????
But, I did, with alot of frustration and leaving the room, manage to sew together my lates BOM. I do not like the way this one got sewn together. I have another pattern to make it and it's - compared to this one - excellant!! so, here is the stressful blk I have manged to sew this week:

I am all caught up on my BOM - I usually sew this together the night I get it so it's done. I forgot this month!!! It looks okay, but this is not a blk I want to make again the way this one is done. And it's 9" not the 9 1/2" it should be..... oh well, it's done. (I look at it and it's not looking like it should have been as stressful as it was. I had to re-cut pieces, un-sew pieces, and it drove me nuts!! I finally get myself back into the sewing room for this???!! lol!!! It's done. That is all I can say!!)

Went through my plans for 2009 last night - uh, I have not done much on my 'goals' list for the year............ I am working on that though. Learing how to stick to my plans and do my goals. Goals are a new thing for me though. It is hard to change patterns and catch yourself falling back to old habits........ but I am going to just keep on working on my 'new' habits till I don't have to think about them anymore. And one of the habits I am working on is to finish my projects........ Not leave them 1/2 done, or almost done, and put them away!!!

And it's August. Time to think school, fall, Christmas, canning, storing foods.... I have been doing alot of thinking in that regard. I do freezer meals - meals you spend a day, a few hours, creating meals that you put in your freezer to use later. Either cook from raw or re-heat. And I have myself a small library of how-to books on this subject. I have been finding myself going through them this past week, planning on what to make to have ready to pull out for the fall/winter months. I want to be an organized home maker. Not this fly by the seat of my pants, what-ever happens happens, type of person I am right now!!! I like this person, but, I think I would like her more if she got it together!!! So, I am working on being more of the person I want to grow up to be!!!!

Have a great week and here is to a blk on Tuesday - my BOM day, that doesn't make me crazy!!! And since I will be in a LQS, my numbers may change for the next stash report.....?! ;-)

Stash Busting week25

Here is my report!! Been missing for a couple weeks, but I had to buy fabric for my Goose blks. Plus I needed the charm pks for making the D9P quilt top that is still on my wall..... had better work on that so it's not hanging there tomorrow for the design wall show 'n tell!!!

Stash - 176 yrds
Old Stash Counted - 0
Fab. added - 3 1/2 yrds
F.A.Y.T.D. - 18 5/8 yrds
Fab Used - 0
Fab. used YTD - 9 yrds

New Stash Count - 179 1/2 yrds

For those that wanted to see my sewing room - here are a few pictures:

This is taken from the front of my sewing table -

basically the center of the room, and this is the door that lets you in. This is my new spot for my design wall!! Instead of hiding my closet, it now is against the wall.......

I do like it better here.

I did not move from where I stood, but just moved the camera to show you the next corner..........

Oh, I lied!! this is the place I sew.... To the left of me is project ideas, DVD's, audio books, CD's - it's my entertainment area. It's a little bookshelf under the bulliten board that is covered with things. okay, next picture please!!

this is my sewing area - I can now watch normal TV or shows on quilting that I have on DVD (or a movie if I want!!)

I know some people that can't sew with noise around. Me, I concentrate better with it!!!

Here is the other corner!!

Here is my little library of books that interest me. It's mostly qulting, but I do have gardening books in there too. And my new TV and DVD player - well, new additons to the room anyway!!

And this is my room.
Not very big, too full of things, but it's working for me. yes, I have (BIG) dreams of another space to create in, but this is mine for now. And I like it, as messy as it is......

this really messing looking part here, well it used to be hidden with the design wall!!! It looks worse than it is, but I really am having trouble getting it to fit in here nicely. I didn't realize how much stuff I had collected over the years till iwas told to have it in one room.... I won't show you the boxes in the hallway that holds my cross sitch stuff.............

Stash Busting week 19

My Stash has not changed since last week. I have finally sewn, but still, not enough to count it yet. So, my stash total is still at 172 1/2 yrds.

I have finally got the last Goose blk done. And my BOM one. So easy, but they sure took me a long time to do this month. Granted, I did have to do the goose one twice, but still, I got it basically all done in one day the first time - weeks later for the second one........

So, this one looks way better than the first one I did...... Granted, this one was not sewn together, but even just sitting there, I did not like it.

So, now I will show you the BOM that I have done. This blk was given when I was in Kelowna, but my friends got it for me, so my next blk on Tuesday will be free!! You have to have the last months blk done, or it cost your $7 for the next one. This one, because I was away, I had to pay for. It's okay though, I got it done!! Easy blk. Quick to do. here it is.

There. Done!!

Happy Mothers Day by the way!!

Today we went to the Star Trek movie. I liked it. Yes, I can be a trekkie - but not a full blown one!! I could never travel in outerspace on a ship, and I don't want to fight, so I guess I'll just stay a civilian and stay on earth. But I do like action movies, and this one is full of it!! I am not a romantic/chick flick type of girl. I also watched the movie 'Doubt' last night. I liked it......
Saw "Marley and Me" on Friday night - and the way the dog was moving at the end, was to close to how my girl walks. She has just turned 11 yrs old last month, and she has been with me constantly for all that time. I do not want to think about her not being here...... so, her is her pic. so you can see her face.
And with this last pic. I am going now. See Myra, I can make smaller posts!! ;-)
It is supposed to be beautiful out this week, and I am going to go out and enjoy the sunshine. Make sure you get your Vit D this week too!! The science guys are realizing how important this Vitamin is, so make sure you get yours!!! Here is to a productive week. I have been so unproductive, that I am really hoping to make this week my turn around week. Here is to sewing!!

Stash Busting Week 17

Well, hello.

I have very little change in my report for the past couple weeks. The shopping I thought I would do, I didn't - but I do have to add 4 FQ's to my new stuff!! Batik's, love 'em.
These are the start to my Orion Star quilt. I need 28 FQ's all together, but I am also going to use up my batik 'scraps' for this quilt. It is going to be beautiful. And I am itching to start it.... but I can't let myself!!! I have to get my PhD's from the 'half done' stage to finished.... But I can still dream and plan.......

So here's my report:

Stash - 171 1/2 yrds

Fab. Added - 1 yrd. (4 FQ's!! for Orion Star project!!)
Fab. Added YTD - 16 5/8 yrds

Fab used - 0
Fab used YTD - 9 yrds (I really need to change this number!!!)
Stash Count - 172 1/2 yrds
Now to see how everyone else's week has been!! I really have to get my used fabric numbers moving... I am working on things, but it's all in pieces and I have to get them worked on and done so I can add the numbers to this list. Till next week!! Carry on like you know what you are doing!!!

Stash Busting Week 14

Can you believe it's week 14!? Wow. It does not feel like we should be on this week yet - I am now feeling like I am really falling behind!! Ah, I will either catch up or I won't... to early to say!!!

Okay - my numbers. They have not changed much from last weeks, I am still plugging away at projects, with no real 'used' numbers to put in. That will happen soon.... as long as I keep on working on these projects and not start something new again!!! I bought 2 FQ's the other day - batiks. I love that type of fabric!! And I am going to be making a "Orion Star Quilt" from Thangles. And when I bought these FQ's I didn't know what I would do with them.... last night I was looking through my box of future projects and came across the project pack for this Orion Star quilt and thought "yes!!". It wants 14 light and 14 dark FQ's - so that is what I will do, go through my stash of batiks and start putting a kit together. And if I don't have enough, well, I guess picking up a few here and there won't hurt..... ;-) After all, it's a future project!!
On the Thangles site they have a Linus project! I really like it!!

There are a few things on the Thangles site I might just have to check out!!! (no, don't do it!!)

I am working at getting my project box empty this year -it holds kits and projects I want to do sooner, rather than later and I will get to these things. I need to finish the ones I have on the go first. It is so tempting though to just take a kit and start anew..........!!!!

Stash - 171 yrds
Old Stash counted - 0 yrds

Fabric added - 1/2 yrd
Fab. added year to date - 15 5/8 yrd

Fabric used -0
Fabric used YTD - 9 yrds

Stash Count - 171 1/2 yrds

So there you have it. Nothing has really changed, and I was not in my room as much as I have been. I am still working on my last Goose Track blks, but they are coming along... I have gotten a couple steps done, and once I get rolling they will go quickly. I really like this project!!

This Weeks plans:
* Do my walks everyday!! And keep track of my steps - I bought myself a pedometer so I have no reason not to know how many steps I walk. Goal - at least 5000, so we will see!!
*Goose blks done!
*Step 6 of Double Delight.

Hmmm, I am going to stop there. I also would love to do some baking - I love muffins!! and I would really like to make my dogs some treats from a recipe book that I bought a couple years ago. Cleaning my house is also on my ajenda, but I won't write that down on my 'goals' list - I should just be doing it..... I would rather mow the lawn than vacum a house...... I think it's because housework was like a punishment as a kid and I still feel that way about it...... I have to change that perception. A clean house is a beautiful thing and it's so nice to have, so, that is another thing on my list...... (I just wrote but again!!) I am going to have to read through this post to see if I have written 'but' without realizing it!!! If I have, I am going to leave it. I am trying to not use that word.
(yup, I found that word!! lol! )

My short-term memory is not as sharp as it used to be.
Also, my short-term memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Stash Busting Week 13

Here are my numbers for this week:

Stash - 163 3/4 yrds
Old Stash counted - 7 1/4 yrds

Fabric added - 0
Fab. added year to date - 15 1/8 yrd

Fabric uced -0
Fabric used YTD - 9 yrds

Stash Count - 171 yrds

I am feeling like I should just grab a number out of my head and call it good on the 'old stash counted', but - everytime I pull out a piece and count it, it's bigger than I thought it would be. So, I will count my old stash, and really see how much I have in there..... but when I am in that room, I just want to sew, so that is holding me up!!

And no, I do not fit into my jeans like I had wanted. I will though, I already see/feel improvements so I am not stopping!! My ribs are coming back!!! And I bought myself a pair of walking shoes yesterday to do my walking DVD's with. I now have Leslie Sanson's book, Walk away the Pounds, and I knew she would say to wear shoes!! I have been using them off and on now for a few years and I don't wear shoes..... I'm in my house and it's walking for crying out loud!! But, I do think it will help!! My shoes are so comfy!! It feels like I am floating on air!!!! So, it will probably help alot - so I have shoes now!! In the book she has a 6 week program, and I am going to follow it. I need to get fit. Feel strong. And lately I have been being a couch potato. I am either on here, watching TV or sewing.... not a very active lifestyle, so I am going to do these walking DVD's and when the snow is gone, I will pull out my bike and go for a ride!! And the snow is leaving, and others were on theirs yesterday so... soon I will have the breeze and the sun and I love riding my bike!!

Here is a top I made awhile ago. Dec???? Anyways, I think I am going to have to find it and put on the pile of 'to be quilted'. It's a bright one and I love it!! The pattern came from the book "Coffee Time Quilts" by Cathy Wierzbicki. There are a few things in this book that I really like - so ..... ahhhh, I really need to finish what I have already started, but there are so many, many great ideas and projects that I just am tempted to try them all... not a good thing!!

When is the last time you changed your sewing machine needle???? And since I wound all my bobbins last week (23 of them??) I am good for bobbins for a bit. But I should change my blades in my cutters...... soon!!

Make this week a great one and have some fun on April Fools day!! It's my sister's birthday, so we couldn't do tricks after lunch on her or she would ge mad!! lol!! Before lunch, fine, but after lunch it was "Leave me alone! It's my birthday!!" Memories!!

All the best.

Stash Busting Week 12

Well, it's Sunday again. How did that come back so quickly???

Here are my numbers for this week:

Stash - 164 yrds
Old Stash counted - 2 1/4 yrds

Fabric added - 0
Fab. added year to date - 15 1/8 yrd

Fabric uced - 2 1/2 yrds
Fabric used YTD - 9 yrds

Stash Count - 163 3/4 yrds

And I have my "Boxed Stars" blks all made now, and the sashing and border found in my stash!! That is what I counted!! It is good to use your stash - I bought the sashing fabric woundering why I even looked at it, but then I pulled it out and put by these guys and it looks nice with it. It's calming - then I have a green to go around the whole thing. I wil show it later.

And I am adding a book to my list of things I've read. This one is called "The Avian Ark" and it's all about a family who has made their home into a bird clinic and self-taught rehabilitators so these birds can be released healthy back into the wild. Interesting read. Drawn pictures of the birds, but I would have like actual pictures because I had never heard of some of these birds before!! Another Canadian book, and another older one. I have books that I have collected to read, and don't.... But, now I am!! And my book list is basically for me to know what I have read this year!!! And to remind myself to make time for reading.

Have a great week. It's SPRING!!!! And I will see you next week!!!! With a bigger report and things done.

Goals for this week:

-Get boxed stars sashing & border on

-Goose BOM next step done!!!!!!

-And don't start anything if not on my list!!!!!!

and I just got reminded about Double Delight!! I am working on - or going to be working on I should say - Step 5 of Double Delight!! Thanks to Isabel at http://bellequilts.blogspot.com/ 's stash report, she mentioned this quilt and a lightbulb went off!!! Thanks!!!

And with that, I am outta here!!! (going to see what you've been up to!!!) ;-)

Stash Busting week 11

Okay, I changed my numbers!!

Stash - 168 1/8
Old Stash Counted - 0

Fabric Added - 2 yrds
Fab. added YTD - 15 1/8

Fabric used - 6 1/2 yrds
Fab. used YTD - 22 1/2

Total Stash Count - 164 yrds

(I counted the Stash project with borders because they will be on this week, and I just fudged it with the fractions... so I am going to leave it as 164 yrds stash. I am getting better at the math, but it's not always easy for me......) But I do have pictures!!

Judy's Stash Buster!! It works up very quickly. I am thinking it would make a great car quilt, for those times when you would like to have something to wrap around you, or to sit on (put it folded on a bench and it would be a little softer to sit on it!!) But, lets just get it to the finishing stage before we start to use it!! lol!)

I made more 'Twilight' Blks yesterday! Since each pattern says to make two blks and I do not want the blks the same, on one, I just moved the two colors around - on the other I choose two different fabrics. The one with the orange blks, when I had the two fabrics side by side. they looked really good together, each the same intensity - in the blk, orange took right over!! I was woundering if it would have been that way if I had reversed their order, but oh well, it's done now, and I am not re-doing it!! (she says now........)

Funny, I kinda like the orange blk..... it looks cosmic... (is that a word???!) I am going to leave it....

This coming up week, I am doing my BOM's!! I got my CAM. BOM on Tuesday, and the Goose Tracks one is out today!! So I can go work on that one - at least print it off anyway. I am liking those blks. And I could do my guild ones, (but those blks are just not speaking to me, no desire to work on them.......) and I found my PhD of the flip flops.... thongs - they are thongs!!! But I have to remember not to say that in public!!! So I just might pull that out and work on it because, it's snowing out there again........

Till next week - change that needle, wind some bobbins, and let your self be free!!!!!

Sunday, March 8, 2009

Stash Busting week 10

Well, I have no changes for the past two weeks!!! The above blk was for a friends quilt - we all made a blk for it and this was mine!

I have been sewing, but no numbers to report. I did pull out fabrics for Judy L's mystery, but have not started cutting them so I can't cout them! All my other projects are still works in progress, so I won't do their numbers till the project is done. And, I have not been leaving the house to go to any stores so couldn't buy anything either..... And I did not count any of my stash, which I had ment to do. I had better stop staring out the window watching snow flying by and get my butt in gear to make some changes in my Stash Busting numbers!!

So, my stash number is still 168 1/8 yrds.

Okay, I have to get this post on the web, so I can do my Stash Busting report...... as little as it is, you can't have huge numbers every week!! Or, can you?????.......................... hmmm, something to think about............................ :-)

The Dory Award, for those who can't remember Squat!

I just found this on "Tactile Pleasures" site and it's not to be an award that's given to people, it's an award to be taken, so if this is you, feel free to take it!! I laughed when I saw it, and now I have my own award!! Isn't it funny!! This is how my week has been feeling, so right now this is perfect!! lol!

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Stash Busting week 9

Stash - 160 1/8 yrds
Old Stash ounted - 9 1/2 yrds

Fabric Added: 0
Fab. Year to Date: 13 1/8 yrd

Fab Used - 0 (I need to count up what I used making the green sashing and orange stars)
Year to Date - 16 yrds

Total Stash Count- 160 1/8 yrds

So, this is showing no change from last week, but I did get things done!! Not like the week before, but still my alien quilt top is done (I think..... ).

This coming week, I am going:
-to finish step 4 of Double Delight, thought I would have done it this past week, but oh well.
-Count more of my stash, and get some more of my projects that I have planned to do from my red binder worked on!! (this is the binder where I put the projects I want to do or am working on it, and these are things I want to do first!! No, the alien quilt was not in the binder.....)
-That means more 'Twilight'blks and hopefully get some of my guild blks done. Once they are done, I can stop feeling like they need to be worked on!!!

And maybe.... work on the quilt Judy had posted the other day....... should I???? Shouldn't I???? See, this is where I get myself into trouble!! lol! Here is another of my projects I am working on. It's a Judy Martin pattern from her "Scraps" book - 'Flower Child'. It's for my older daugher. And it is on my 'please finish me' pile. I had it up on my design wall one day (for a few days actually) and she really upset me, so I took it down and put it away... it will come out, soon, it's beautiful. I think so anyway. I just thought I would leave a picture here to show you that I love to piece things together.... quilting... well, I hope someday to be doing that too!!

Have a great week everyone, and I will see you next week!!!!

Sunday, February 22, 2009

Stash Report week 8

Okay - here is my report:

Stash - 150 5/8 yrds
Old Stash ounted - 9 1/2 yrds (am not done yet - found this in a bag with a project!)

Fabric Added: 0
Fab. Year to Date: 13 1/8 yrd

Fab Used - 0 (I have been making blks but I will count these amounts when done making them)
Year to Date - 16 yrds

Total Stash Count- 160 1/8 yrds

I have made alot of blks this past week, and have pulled out my Stacked Posies from my pile of things I need to finish! This is where I found the fabrics I am adding to my stash count. I was surprised that there was almost 10 yrds in the bag!!! I would not have come to close to guessing that amount, but there it was..... I have alot more fabric than what I realize..... scary.
I have had a very produtive week - and have enjoyed it.
The sun is out and shining very brightly. That always makes the winter days seem nicer. Tomorrow, they are saying we are back to snow and winter.... okay then. I have been liking it not snowing!! It has been chilly, but I have been warm in my studio, so have not really noticed!

Have a great week busting that stash of yours and make beautiful things!!!!

Stash Report week 7

I have just learned something!! I was counting my stash on Tuesday, and thought, why not start the weekly 'stash busting' post and fill it in as your counting. Well, I didn't realize it wouldn't post it on the Sunday that I wanted it to!! Now I know, don't start the stash busting post early if you want it to post on Sunday!!! I had to laugh. I will get this 'posting' stuff, really I will!! lol!

HEY!!! I got how to change the date figured out!! Now my stashbusting post is where I wanted it to be!! Told you I would figure this out!!!!

Stash - 132 yrds
Old Stash counted - 13 yrds (with more to be counted)

Fabric added this week: 5 5/8 yrd
Fab. added year to date: 13 1/8 yrd

Fab. used this week: 6 1/3 backing
Fab used year to date: 16 yrds - backing

Total Stash Count: 150 5/8 yrd

******************************************************

This is a pic. of some of the fabric that I bought. I just had to have the 'love' fabric, and just in case you didn't know what blk fabric looked like, I had him beside the 'love'!! The other fabrics are veggie fabrics. I am planning (it has been in the planning stage a long time!! to make a picnic quilt with food fabrics. And my friend got some in her monthly mailing and asked if I wanted them!! So, I said okay.

So this in my report this week.
I have been doing alot of sewing; my BOM's, the Double Delight (that takes alot of sewing and cutting time!! lol!!) - and have been really enjoying going through my little pile of fabric and to see how much is in that 'little' pile makes me wounder how much other people have because my stash would make them laugh......... So, shop your stash, see what you find and lets make it shrink!! See what we can get out of our mess of pretty fabrics!
Me?? I am working on things I have been wanting to do awhile, and then it's UFO time!!
Have a great week - I know I am planning to!!

Stash Busting Week 6!!

I have been laying around all week with a wicked cough. Not fun!! So not very productive this week at all - although I did do a blk that my guild was doing as a group; we each would teach a blk and then hand out the how-to's to make our own sampler quilt. Well, I am still working on the blks - so I th0ught that would be an easy thing to do while under the weather. I have to fix the mistake I made before I move onto other things!! lol!!

Stash Total - 74 1/2 yrds

No, this is still not my total stash - still have more to count. The old stash now counted # is the flannel backing that I bought this summer, and I have not cut it yet for the January Sunshine thow. But at least I know how much I have.

Judy was saying/asking why we are stash busting? And to not do it for the wrong reasons.

Well, I am doing it to stop myself from buying things I see and like, without thinking of all that I have at home waiting........ They were all "have to have's" too, when they came home with me.... and now they are dust collecting, "someday's". And they are not cheap either. I have spent good money on these projects/fabrics - I am going to spend this year finally realizing how much I have and get my 40 + UFO's onto the "DONE!!" pile.

I know for some of you my 100 or so yards is not alot..... and looking at pics of some people's stashes and collections, it's not. But for me, it's huge. And if it doesn't get used, it's a waste of space, of money, of my time - so why have it????

My goal this year, is to use what I have - and enjoy the process. Am I going to stop myself from buying? No, look at the fabric I have already bought - but, I am going to watch myself and not buy just because. I have projects ready in bags for me to create them and bring them to life. I am going to 'shop' there first - and thanks Judy for holding my hand! ;-)

Sunday Report!

My Stash Total - 64 3/4 yards

And no, this is not my 'total' stash!! It is just what I have counted so far. I do not have a large stash, simpy because I buy more books and patterns than fabric!! And when I used to buy, I would buy FQ's, but I have moved on to larger pieces!! I just have not counted all my stash yet, and I have spent the most part of this week ill!! So, on my 20 minutes of sewing a day, yesterday, when I fianally felt awake enough to go and turn the machine on - I was 4 days owing - meaning I had not sewn my 20 min. for 4 days!! I got some sewing done, but I am still behind. Next week, I will be all caught up, and will have some used stash to count!!!! (that is, once I have figured out how much flannel is on that bolt I bought, and cut off what I need to wash for the backing of my January Sunshine!

So, this is my "Stash Report" for this week. We can only go up from here!!!

Okay, I still have stash to count. But this is where I stand now. And I have started the Bonnie Hunter mystery http://quiltville.com/doubledelight1.shtml, and I am, so far enjoying it.

It's sunday, so I am working on my snowmen ornaments for the girls. Christmas sunday - I think this will help me get my Christmas projects done, + even more that I had not thought of..... way to much fun!!!

Okay, off to bust more stash this week!! With Bonnie's mystery, I am using up alot of it!! And that made me really happy when I realized besides the brown and the cheddar (orange!!) I had all the rest of it here - although it has taken almost all my pinks... but that is okay by me!! I want to use it all - and then just buy when and what I need for a certain project!

I have had enough playing with numbers!! An accoutant, I am not!!

Stash Busting Week One

Okay time to do my 'stash busting' report. I have not counted all my stored fabrics yet - but they all will be counted. This 'count' is for me basically. I want to know how much I have in there.

Stash - 59 1/8 yrds

Fabric Bought - 0

Fabric Given - 0

Fabric Used - well, it's all been scraps. I will figure out this # when I have it closer to done.

Here is my project that is using up my scraps. It is called 'Morning Star' and it's from one of the nickle books. I still have borders to put on it. And I already have the backing and batting, so I am going to get this project done!! This was what I was going to wait till January to start, but now, it's close to being done, so I am planning on havig it done by the end (or sooner!!) or January!! All the middle squares are of flower fabrics and the side bars are batiks. The stars are either a pale brown/beige or yellow. No, it was not planned in anyway - I just threw things on my design wall, and just started sewing. I was not sure how I felt about it when it was in pieces, laying there, but as I sewed the pieces together, and the stars started 'shining' - I like it. It's not bright as in blinding, but it is a cheery little middle and I think, since it's just for the couch to curl up under, it will be perfect! I am thinking of naming it "January Sunshine" .
And the stars have litteraly come from my scraps pile. All bits a pieces that I sorted through, and now I have stars from material that some would have discarded. The points are from squares 1 1/2", the centers 2 1/2 " - it was alot of cutting tiny pieces, then making sure I had 8 points per star!!! Not all the stars have the same points!! But that is half the fun!!
